Most of us don’t eat the healthy diet we should and want to do better. One way to do this is to add cottage cheese to your diet. A 1/2 cup of this cheese contains 14 grams of protein and 77 milligrams of calcium.

You have to have good nutrition in order to function all day and to be able to participate in physical activities. The FDA has developed the food pyramid to help people learn how to eat the right combination of foods to have a healthier lifestyle.  Unfortunately, many people aren’t consuming the right balance of foods they need to maintain their long term health.

It is a common misconception that dairy products should be banned from a person’s diet because of the amount of fat they contain. This isn’t true of all types of dairy products including cottage cheese. It comes in many different forms including natural, low fat and no fat. The regular processed variety is 4% fat but you can go with a low fat version that only has 2% fat.

Many people find eating cottage cheese for breakfast fills them up and allows them to rev up their metabolism. Since it is good for you it will be burned off by lunch time instead of stored as fat on your body. Individuals who skip breakfast tend to overeat at lunch time. A good nutritious breakfast of a cup of cottage cheese with some toast will keep you full until lunch. It is a much better alternative to eating muffins or donuts in the morning.
